It's birthday month!
Some people have birthday week, but we like to do birthday month. Because. We. Can.
I love to celebrate every day in April like it's my birthday and the phrase 'treat yo'self' is often overused. I know you've been there too, and you're probably thinking, if only your husband could see the afterpay balance right now! Am I right ladies?
I've heard this phrase 'treat everyone like it's their birthday' and while that could get very expensive, there is a strong truth to it. If everyone treated me like it was my birthday everyday, I feel like I would slow down and actually enjoy people a lot more and give a lot more time to them. I also think it's a good reminder to be treating people how we would want to be treated, and I've been really focusing on doing this lately.
It's also Dougs birthday this month (four days before mine) so we quite often will plan to some things he likes, and some things that I like (exploring, shopping) I honestly have no idea what to get him this year for his birthday! I have a couple of ideas but nothing solid yet. I'm usually already organised and would have purchased it by now, but this year I am struggling for ideas! PLEASE feel free to drop a comment of what YOU would buy your guy! I'd love to know.
My style finds for this month are only things that are from my wishlist or items that I am definitely purchasing (or have purchased!) If there is ever anything you want to see me post about, just hit me up and let me know, I'll be all over it and I love a challenge.
One thing I am loving this season is overalls! I have seen so many people rocking cute outfits with them lately and it makes me want to wear them. I recently went to shoe store (shock) and met a lovely girl that was rocking some of the coolest overalls I've seen! I really wanted them. Turns out she actually made hers, and agreed to make me some! Post to follow - check my insta, it'll be there soon!
A couple of self-love things I love to do around my birthday is going out for coffee dates, getting eyelash extensions, having my nails done, buying fresh flowers for our home and sometimes a new scented candle will sneak into the mix too.
I'm hoping to get a new hat for my birthday, as the one I have is a 57' and it doesn't fit me as well as I would like a hat to fit, it's a bit snug! I am hoping that I'll get the William brown from Will & Bear (with a name like that right?) did you know that with every hat purchased from Will & Bear 10 trees are planted? I'm all for the saving environment.
As we come into the cooler months, things generally slow down for us with weddings and portrait shoots. Though I have LOTS of work to do and I am very excited to be bringing some new and fresh ideas in the upcoming months in regards to our work in photography. I love the 'down time' to work on some of the behind the scenes parts that I adore about photography. Part of that is spending time with my clients! Things are also heating up with our in-home lifestyle sessions, I'll be bringing you a blog about that VERY soon!
Lastly. I was planning on a cheeky trip to Melbs for my birthday, in these holidays because I had time. But it wasn't meant to be, and that's totally fine because I have another trip to Melbourne planned in the next two months anyway.
So one thing I'm doing to celebrate my birthday is a SLEEPOVER. I am t h i r t y and having a sleepover! It's hilarious, but I'm actually so excited! Pillow fight anyone?
As always, thank you for reading and feel free to reach out to me! My instagram is always open! I'm @permanent_weekend
